Hundreds of miles of cable go into a project of this size. We ran 240,000 cables just from the 1024 router switchers at the Echo Star satellite station in Gilbert, Az.
ESPN
A good integration crew makes up all lables, connectorizes and pulls cable to as close a staging area as possible waiting on final locations and equipment to be given elevations and locations.

Many times the racks are airwired if we have the location and elevation but not the piece of equipment. When the piece of equipment arrives it is installed and connected with ease.
ESPN
Some dedicated racks like DA's are filled as the other racks that feed them are wired. Then dressed properly when they are populated and completed.

This is a rack of patchbays and full with this unique style of service loop.
ESPN
Cables are ran underneath an 18 inch floor or more and up and out of the back of the rack ready to be wired in when the equipment is installed from the front. Sometimes the equipment comes prewired and is rolled up with the piece in boxes or rapped up in the rack.

Some of these stacks get pretty big. I've seen bigger than this.

This is a great looking rack and like I said it is an art to get the neatness and waterfall flow of cables with the cable being capable of being traced as it remains in the same line with no sinkers.

This is the backplane of a router. It runs through patchbays and to every piece of equipment in the building and is selected from a router panel.
