Edward Smith grew up in Hawaii where his father (Dr. Bill Smith) was pastor of Waialae Baptist Church in Honolulu, Hawaii. There were many nationalities in the church from all over the pacific, Asia, Australia, and the USA mainland where many of the members were Japanese.
